HENDERSON, Nev. – In celebration of 20 wonderful years in the community, the McCaw School of Mines will host a re-dedication celebration on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The community is invited to join Mayor Andy Hafen, the McCaw School of Mines Board of Directors, and other notables for games, raffles, prizes and food at the free event at 57 Lynn Lane.
“We are so excited to host this event and bring our community together to celebrate this wonderful resource,” said John Blythe, McCaw School of Mines Board of Director President. “We’re honored to be able to provide this unique experience to Vegas valley students, and this party is a great way to commemorate the school’s significance in our community.”
Opened in 1996, the “Jewel of the Desert” simulated mine at McCaw Elementary School invites thousands of students annually to learn about mining as well as its history and importance in Nevada. The interactive exhibit allows students a hands-on, educational experience.
