Mayor Pro-Tem Debra March Honored with UNLV Lied Institute LIFRES Award.

LAS VEGAS – The UNLV Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies recognized Henderson Mayor Pro-Tem Debra March with the 2015 LIFRES Award at a dinner on Nov. 4. This new award is presented to an individual who has contributed considerably to the growth and sustainability of the Lied Institute.

March was a founding board member of the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies and later served as the executive director from 1996 to 2009. In that position, she led efforts for the development of livable communities in Southern Nevada and served as a mentor to many students completing the program. Today, she remains a committed volunteer to the Institute.

“I’m incredibly honored to receive this lifetime achievement award from the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies,” said March. “For me, this is a true testament to the work we’ve accomplished together to make our communities so great. I’m truly humbled by this recognition and thank all of the people that supported me along the way and continue to do so today.”

A Henderson resident for more than 25 years, Mayor Pro-Tem March has a long track record of service to her community. She serves on the Chairman’s Council of the Henderson Community Foundation; as a member of the Henderson Open Space and Trails Advisory and Henderson Limited Transition Area Committees; and served on the City of Henderson Planning Commission from 2004 to 2009. A member of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce board of directors, March was on the founding board and first year advance chair of Leadership Henderson. She also represents Henderson as a vice chair on the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada Board of Commissioners, vice chair of the Clark County Regional Flood Control District Board of Directors and serves as the council liaison to the Henderson Planning Commission. Additionally, she is the chair of Southern Nevada Strong.

She is a current board member, founding member and former vice chair of the Urban Land Institute Nevada District Council; graduate of Leadership Las Vegas Class of 1991; former board member of Nevada HAND; and served as president of the Nevada League of Cities and Municipalities from 2012 to 2013. She is also a member of the Boulder Highway Investment Strategy and the Regional Rapid Transit Authority Advisory Committees. She was named to the Advisory Board of the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute, Roseman University of Health Science MBA Advisory Board and also serves as a member of the bi-state I-11 Corridor Study Committee. In 2014, Councilwoman March was appointed to the National League of Cities First Tier Suburbs Council and in 2015 was elected vice chair of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
