The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation is hosting its 13th Annual “Fill the Fire Truck” Toy Drive. Las Vegas, Clark County, Henderson, Nellis, NNSS Fire & Rescue (Test Site), and North Las Vegas Fire Departments will participate in a four-week long effort to collect toys and gift cards for economically challenged children throughout the valley, with all fire stations serving as drop-off locations throughout the month of December.
This year, the foundation is extending their collection donation and increasing their donation goal to meet the continuous need for holiday gifts in Southern Nevada. Toys will also be collected each weekend beginning the weekend of November 29th and 30th (this weekend only, collections are from 11am-3pm) and ending the weekend of December 20th and 21st. Collections for the last three weekends will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at five participating Wal-Mart locations including:
7200 Arroyo Cross Parkway (Rainbow/215)
8060 West Tropical Parkway (Centennial/95)
6464 North Decatur Boulevard (Decatur/215)
4350 North Nellis (Nellis/Craig)
540 Marks Street (Sunset/Marks)
Findlay Chevrolet will also be collecting toys throughout the month of December. They are located at 6800 South Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89118. Toys can also be dropped off at the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation office, located at 3111 S. Valley View Blvd, Ste. B-111. The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation will distribute the collected toys to local organizations including the Boys and Girls Clubs, Family-to-Family Resource Centers, as well as schools and churches throughout the community.
In 2013, over 300 volunteers collected gifts, which were donated to dozens different organizations and schools. They provided nearly 20,000 children with Christmas gifts. This year’s goal is to surpass that amount by serving the needs of over 22,500 children.
