On Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Aliante Golf Club, the Foundation Assisting Seniors (FAS) and the Veterans of Sun City Aliante held their first Charity Golf Tournament. The Foundation raised an estimated $7,000. Proceeds go directly to providing funding for the Foundation’s current programs as well as to begin new programs.
“We’re thankful to those that came out to the tournament and helped us raise money for the Foundation Assisting Seniors. It is exciting to know that this money will help expand the programs that assist seniors in our community,” said Karl Vonderohe, golf tournament organizer and FAS volunteer. Favil West, president of the Foundation Assisting Seniors said, “It is delightful to know that we can raise money for the Foundation Assisting Seniors and on the same token, provide enjoyment to our attendees at our Charity Aliante Golf Tournament with a good game.”
During the event, raffle prizes, ranging from vacation packages to dinner gift certificates, were given away. Other prizes during the tournament included: “Hole in One;” “Closest to Pin” and; “Longest Drive.”
About Foundation Assisting Seniors (FAS)
FAS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation dedicated to improving the quality of life in the senior community. Last year, the Foundation responded to more than 9,000 requests for assistance services, including providing non-medical health assistance, limited home maintenance assistance (i.e. changing light bulbs, servicing water softeners), transportation services, loans of mobility equipment and funding for senior support groups. As it enters its eleventh year of service to the senior community, the Foundation will continue its development and funding of new services while maintaining and improving its existing service and communications commitments to assure the safety, security and independence of the senior community.
