(Henderson, Nev.) –For the second time, the Henderson Firefighters will be showing their support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) by selling “Go Pink for the Cure” charity shirts to the public. Fifty percent of the proceeds will benefit the BCRF, and the other half will go to the Henderson Firefighters Benevolent Association (HFBA), which benefits other local nonprofit organizations in the community.

T-shirts sell for $20.00 and polos sell for $40.00, and are available in men’s (up to 5XL for t-shirts and 4XL for polos), women’s and youth sizes are also available. They can be purchased online at hfbanv.com, through September 18th, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.

Last year, Henderson firefighters purchased shirts to wear on-duty, as well additional collared shirts and t-shirts for friends and family, and were able to donate over $4K to the BCRF. This year, they are hoping to double that donation by opening sales to the general public.

Brian Michals, treasurer of the HFBA and lead on this initiative, says, “By opening up sales to the Henderson and Las Vegas valley community, we are not only hoping to raise awareness on this worthy cause, we are also hoping to raise more money to go towards breast cancer research.” He goes on, “By selling the shirts in September, we can have them to the community by October 1st, so that we can all show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October.”

The mission of the BCRF is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer by providing critical funding for innovative research worldwide. Currently, 91% of every dollar spent by BCRF is directed towards breast cancer research and awareness programs.  In addition, 5% goes to fundraising and only 4% goes to administrative costs.

These charity shirts were developed by the Henderson Firefighters Benevolent Association (HFBA), which is a non-profit 501(C)(3) tax-exempt organization established in 2006 by Henderson Firefighters.  The HFBA’s primary objective is to provide charitable assistance to its members, the public, and community outreach organizations throughout Southern Nevada. If you have any questions regarding any of the programs the HFBA provides, general information, or if you wish to donate, please feel free to contact the association at www.HFBANV.com.
