(Henderson, Nev.) – The Henderson Police Officers’ Association Charitable Foundation (HPOACF) recently announced they will be the presenting sponsor for the 6th Annual ‘Run for Shelter’ 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk, on November 22, 2014 at Cornerstone Park. As the presenting sponsor, they will be donating $5,000 to the non-profit.

Ken Kerby of the HPOACF, says, “We are proud to be giving back to such a praiseworthy charity in our community. Not only does S.A.F.E. House help local victims of domestic violence, the organization has also raised awareness on how to prevent it. This is what makes S.A.F.E. House a crucial organization in our community, and why we have committed to supporting its mission through this sponsorship.”

S.A.F.E. House Executive Director Julie Proctor, says, “If we want to make a difference, we need to join efforts and stand up against domestic violence. The Run for Shelter is one of our largest events, helping to raise funds to assist the over 4,000 victims we serve each year. We are truly grateful for this, as this is the first year we have obtained a presenting sponsor!”

Proceeds from the event will be used for emergency shelter, counseling, and advocacy for local victims who come from violent and abusive homes.
