(Henderson, Nev.) – The Henderson Police Officers’ Association (HPOA) recently sponsored a participant in the Southern Nevada Devil Pups 2014 Youth Leadership Program at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The sponsorship provided expenses for supplies and participation costs for their graduate of choice, William Ledesma.
This year, Southern Nevada qualified and sent twenty-eight Devil Pups to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton for a ten-day encampment and experience of a lifetime. Devil Pups Youth 2014 Leadership Program provides intense character building skills where teens, ages 14-17, have the opportunity to learn valuable lessons. This includes setting a life plan, overcoming personal obstacles, evaluating personal strengths and weaknesses, working as a member of team, and becoming young men and women of honor and integrity.
HPOA President Darrell Wade says, “We are proud to be involved with such a prestigious organization that is focused on mentoring the youth in our communities. As police officers, many of us have a military background and it is our pleasure to see our graduate, William Ledesma, flourish as a young leader. We are very proud of his achievement.”
