On December 7, Honor Flight Southern Nevada hosted its inaugural “Vino With Veterans” fundraiser on the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor at The Bootlegger Bistro in the Copa Room.
This is the first year that the organization hosted the fundraiser “Vino With Veterans,” in which all proceeds garnered during the event fund the next honor flight in spring 2017. Attendees had the opportunity to meet with WWII veterans and a Pearl Harbor survivor, and view work that they have had published.
“We were honored to launch this fundraiser and are proud to announce that we have raised enough donations to send additional veterans to visit the memorials in D.C. in 2017,” said Belinda Morse, executive director of Honor Flight Southern Nevada. “I encourage people in our community to join our local war heroes in remembering Pearl Harbor Day.”
Congresswoman Dina Titus said, “My office was privileged to join Honor Flight of Southern Nevada for the 75th Remembrance of Pearl Harbor. I want to thank veterans like Mr. Arby Hambric and Mr. Walter Rubyor for sharing their personal stories of courage so those in attendance could reflect on the sacrifices made by our heroes who risked their lives for our country.”
