Katie Coombs, host of “Uncommon Sense,” recently joined KNEWS 107.3FM Reno’s News Radio. Through her show, Coombs shares her knowledge and advice, focusing on family values and parental leadership through the simple use of common sense. The show airs Saturdays from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Coombs also spends time highlighting local events and special causes in the “Uncommon Community” portion of her show. Recently, she launched her “Uncommon Hopes and Dreams” Campaign as well, which involves assisting one child in need per month in some way (clothing, school supplies, dental work, etc.)
In addition to her radio show, Coombs also writes a weekly column in the Reno-Gazette Journal, manages an ongoing blog, and actively engages her listeners in conversation forums through various mediums. Coombs has earned a reputation in the community for her humor on parenting and family-oriented philosophies, which has been instrumental in the development of her radio show into a brand and forum where she can engage her community and help the audience with their parenting trials and tribulations.
Launched in 2012, KNEWS 107.3FM Reno’s News Radio is known by locals as the “Conversation Station.” The programming includes local and world news, as well as sports and entertainment commentary.
Katie Coombs, Uncommon Sense
As a native Nevadan with a blended family of three boys, three girls, and a baby on the way, Coombs found a passion in creating a conversation about managing the daily tasks and responsibilities associated with raising children along with husband, Chris, in today’s diverse world. With this passion, she created “Uncommon Sense,” a radio show and interactive website that revolves around her philosophy in parenting–in that discipline and emphasis on self-respect and logical thinking will lead their children to act appropriately in all of life’s situations. By day, Coombs is a local business owner and professionally driven financial advisor. She owns Sierra Financial Advisors, LLC, Sierra Insurance Advisors, LLC and Select Your Term.com.
