(Las Vegas, Nev.) – The Las Vegas Firefighters, in conjunction with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), launched the annual “Fill the Boot” Drive on May 6, 2014. The Las Vegas Firefighters will be hitting the streets with their boots to collect donations in the month of May for the first time in nearly a decade.

The drive serves to benefit research and local services for the Southern Nevada Chapter of the MDA. The Las Vegas Firefighters will be collecting donations on May 16, 22, and 23 at the following locations:

  • Sahara and Decatur (Approved media onsite location)
  • Charleston and Martin Luther King Blvd.
  • Lake Mead and Buffalo
  • Best in the West Shopping Center (Lake Mead and Rainbow)

Todd Ingalsbee, firefighter paramedic and Community Outreach Chairman for the Las Vegas Firefighters, says, “By going out into the community and renewing the tradition of hitting the streets with our collection boots, we anticipate garnering a greater amount of donations, as well as community involvement. We are proud to be involved in such an exceptional organization, and continue to look forward to this drive each year.”

MDA is a voluntary health agency that works in each local community to combat neuromuscular diseases through basic and applied scientific investigation, local comprehensive programs of medical services and clinical care as well as widespread professional and public health education. MDA seeks no government or United Way funding. Programs are funded almost entirely by individual, private contributions.
