(Las Vegas, Nev.) –For the first time, the Las Vegas Firefighters will be showing their support of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation by selling “Fighting Breast Cancer” charity shirts to the public. Firefighters will be purchasing the shirts to wear on and off duty, and have a goal to increase their donation to the foundation through public sales. Nearly fifty percent of the proceeds will benefit the foundation, and the other half will go to other local nonprofit organizations in the community.
T-shirts sell for $10.00, and are available in men’s (up to 3XL), women’s, and youth sizes. They can be purchased online at http://www.offtherackusa.com/lvfr_fighting_breast_cancer, throughout the months of September and October.
Scott Johnson, president of the Las Vegas Firefighters, says, “We are looking forward to not only showing support for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through our members purchasing and wearing the shirts on and off duty, but also through our community who can buy the shirts online as well. It is our goal to see hundreds of these shirts around the community in October particularly, as it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
The Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen® is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Up to 75 percent of the Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the national Komen Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
