“It has come to our attention that individuals claiming association with the ‘Associated Firefighters Burn Fund’ are soliciting telephone donations throughout Northern Nevada. This group is in no way affiliated with the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF), the Professional Firefighters of Nevada (PFFN), or any other Professional Firefighter Local within the state.

The PFFN is solely affiliated with the IAFF Burn Fund through the IAFF Charitable Foundation, the Southern Nevada Burn Foundation and the Firefighters Pacific Burn Institute in Sacramento. None of these organizations perform telemarketing solicitations.

Should any group requesting donations on behalf of firefighters contact you, we

urge you to ask the solicitor for the name of the fund and for its 501(c) registered number. Also question if a caller is a paid fundraiser, who they work for and what percentage of your donation goes to the charity and to the fundraiser. We urge you to be vigilant about solicitations like these and thoroughly research any organization before making a donation.”
