(Henderson, Nev.)- Tronox, a Henderson manufacturing plant, recently contributed a donation of $500 to help fund the Annual “Haunted Mines” Party hosted by Gordon McCaw Elementary School. This is the second year funding the event.

The McCaw School of Mines “Haunted Mines” event is an annual celebration to not only involve parents and families, but to also reward the McCaw School of Mines students for their hard work. During Halloween, the entire mine exhibit is decorated and transformed into a “Haunted Mine Tour,” open to the public on October 24-25, 2014 from 6:00-10:00 p.m.

Clyde Caldwell, Executive Director of the McCaw School of Mines, says, “Tronox has always been a valued community partner and sponsor of the McCaw School of Mines. We are grateful for their continued support, and look forward to their employees and families joining us again this year.”

Rick Stater, Henderson Plant Manager, says, “Tronox is proud to give back to the families and youth of the Henderson community. Last year, our employees and their families enjoyed the event, and we are fortunate to afford them the opportunity to attend again this year,”

The “Jewel of the Desert” simulated mine at Gordon McCaw Elementary School is where local students learn about mining, the history and importance of mining in Nevada. Tronox also donated many of the equipment displays still used at the mine.
