Tronox, LLC is proud to announce that Plant Manager Rick Stater was elected to the McCaw School of Mines Board of Directors.
The McCaw School of Mines, located at Gordon McCaw Elementary in Henderson, houses the “Jewel of the Desert,” a simulated mine where students can learn about mining and its important history in Nevada. McCaw offers hands-on field trips to fourth grade students throughout the Clark County School District.
“I’m happy to be involved with the McCaw School of Mines and the work they do to educate students in our community,” said Stater. “Tronox has always been an advocate for science educational opportunities, and McCaw offers a wonderful program that teaches the importance, process and history of mining in our state. We hope that these experiences will enrich students lives and open their eyes to the incredible number of possibilities their futures hold.”
Along with Stater’s position on the McCaw Board of Directors, he helped to create a Student Mentor Program for C.T. Sewell Elementary School. Additionally, Stater, through Tronox, has sponsored robotics clubs at local elementary, middle and high schools. Through the company, Rick also donates to the Boys and Girls Club and “One Hero at a Time,” a program initiated by Motorcycle Trike Toys, which helps wounded warriors who live in the Henderson community. He is also personally involved in local Juvenile Diabetes charitable activities, volunteering his time and funding.
