Tronox, a Henderson manufacturing plant, donated $1,500 to benefit the Pinecrest Academy Robotics Club. This donation will be used to purchase software and necessary equipment for students to build innovative robots.

The Pinecrest Academy Robotics Club shows students the exciting world of robotics, focusing on origins and applications of technology in robotics. Students learn how robots are built and controlled, and work through challenges to build a robot of their own and make their robots complete a task.

“We’re so grateful to have Tronox as a sponsor,” said Dr. Carrie Buck, principal at Pinecrest. “We are firm believers providing inventive STEM educational opportunities for our students, and our robotics club is a wonderful way for students to experience math and science in a fun, hands-on way. Tronox’s support will allow us to continue to grow this program and make it possible for more students to learn and participate.”

“We’re happy to support science and engineering education for students,” said Rick Stater, Tronox plant manager. “It’s never too early to spark that interest in young people. Pinecrest’s robotics program will build a foundation for these students that could influence the rest of their lives. We’re thankful for the opportunity to make an impact and do our part to help give back to our community.”
