(RENO, NV.) – On October 24, 2014 at the Lakeridge Golf Course and the Dayton Valley Golf Course, the Truckee Meadows Professional Fire Fighters (TMPFF), Local 3895, will hold a golf tournament to benefit the Winchester family.
(Truckee Meadows)- On Friday, September 5th, Bill Winchester, a Truckee Meadows Fire Department Captain, was severely injured while on a road-bike training ride in South Reno. He is currently in intensive care and the next step is 3-4 months of extensive, out-of-state rehabilitation at a specialty spinal injury center.
(Storey County, NV) – In July 2014, the Storey County Professional Fire Fighters (SCPFF) presented a graduating high school student with a $1,000 scholarship. This education-based donation is part of an annual effort for the firefighters to further education in the Storey County community.
(Reno, NV) – Beginning June 30, and through July 15, 2014, Fire Fighters from Truckee Meadows, East Fork, Storey County, Reno, Sparks, Tahoe Douglas, Elko, North and Central Lyon County and Carson City will take to their neighborhoods to distribute information on “Living With Fire.”

Kurt Lynch and Chris Dusfrense of Virginia City High School were each presented with a $1,000 scholarship, which will help them with tuition and books when they attend college in the fall of this year. Members of the Storey County Fire Department personally presented the students with the scholarships (see photos).
(PAHRUMP, NV.) – In June 2014, the Pahrump Valley Professional Fire Fighters (PVPFF), in partnership with the town of Pahrump Fire Department, purchased three animal oxygen masks, to assist in saving lives of pets trapped and suffering smoke inhalation due to house fires. Pahrump Fire Chief Scott Lewis approved town funding for half the cost of the masks.

Local firefighters shaved their heads to support Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation and St. Baldrick’s Foundation on March 7. The Truckee Meadows and Incline Fire Fighters Associations partnered with the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) for a charity event in conjunction with St. Baldrick’s Foundation signature head-shaving event.

On January 23, at the Henderson Fire Training Center in Henderson, NV, the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada (PFFN) made a financial contribution of $20,000 to the American Red Cross “Fire Hurts. Red Cross Helps.” campaign, which provides assistance to victims who have been displaced from their homes due to fires throughout Nevada.
